Ján Veľbacký, hudobné vzdelanie so zameraním na sakrálnu hudbu získal na Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra v Ríme. Popri pedagogickej práci pôsobí vo viacerých inštitúciách a komisiách zameraných na sakrálnu hudbu, tak na národnej ako aj medzinárodnej úrovni. Pravidelne prednáša na zahraničných seminároch, workshopoch a kurzoch zameraných na semiológiu a interpretáciu gregoriánskeho chorálu. Medzi najvýznamnejšie ocenenie za jeho prácu na poli hudby patrí Cena Lugiho Augustoniho udelená Švajčiarskou muzikologickou spoločnosťou Cantus Gregoriani Helvetici Cultores.
Ako dirigent a umelecký vedúci v minulosti pracoval so Schola cantorum cassoviensis, v roku 2005 založil a viedol zbor Jubilus a od roku 2011 pracuje so ženským vokálnym telesom Voces Gregorianae Cassovienses, ktorého je tiež zakladateľom. S týmito telesami absolvoval množstvo domácich i zahraničných koncertov a medzinárodných festivalov (Česká Republika, Poľsko, Maďarsko, Taliansko, Francúzsko, Nemecko, Belgicko) a vydal niekoľko cd nosičov.

Ján Veľbacký, after completion of theological studies at the Lateran University in Rome, he continued in studies of music, to which he devoted himself since his early childhood. Ján acquired his complete musical education with a focus on sacred music at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome, where he graduated and achieved a doctorate in Gregorian chant.
In addition, he regularly gives lectures in international conferences and seminars focused on semiotics and interpretation of Gregorian chant. Besides pedagogical and research work, he also acts in several institutions and committees focused on sacred and liturgical music at national as well as global levels. The most important award for his work in the field of music is Award of Lugi Augustoni Award granted by the Swiss musicological company – Cantus Gregorian Helvetica Cultores.
As a conductor and art director he has worked with Schola Cantorum Cassoviensis and choir Jubilus. Currently he leads vocal ensemble Voces Gregorianae Cassovienses to which he is a founder and an artistic director. With these choirs he has attended many domestic and foreign concerts (Italy, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Lithuania etc…) as well as international festivals.
